Cowes Floating Bridge suspended during high tide (updated: photo and videos)

The high tides that were predicted earlier have reached the Isle of Wight and are causing problems in East Cowes.

As you can see from the photo sent to On The Wight by Tom Flower, the tide is just too high to safely load and unload cars from the floating bridge in Cowes and East Cowes.

We’ll let you know when it’s back in action.

Thanks also to Christian Beasley for sending through these additional photos and videos of how the high tide has affected Cowes today.

Update 15:41: We’ve just added another video by Christian, the one at the top, that not only shows how great those working on the floating bridge are, constructing a walk way for their passengers, but how daintily those people exited the craft.
