The list of celebrated actors taking part in the 2011 Minghella Film Festival continues to grow.
News reaches us here at VB that Ralph Fiennes, will introduce a special screening of The Reader next month.
The Reader will be screened as part of the festival’s continuing retrospective into Isle of Wight born Anthony Minghella’s work, with the focus this year on his production credits. Fiennes starred alongside Oscar-winning Kate Winslet in the 2008 Oscar-nominated film.
In Conversation with Ralph Fiennes
The screening will be preceded by an exclusive “In Conversation” with Fiennes at the Apollo Theatre, on the afternoon of Saturday 12th March, where he can be expected to talk about his career and experience working with Anthony Minghella.
Fiennes first worked with Anthony Minghella, who died in 2008 and was the Island’s first ever Freeman, on 1996’s extraordinary Oscar success, The English Patient – it was nominated for 12 awards and won nine – and his memorable performance as Count Laszlo de Almásy earned him both Oscar and BAFTA nominations. Fiennes recently premièred his directorial debut, Coriolanus, at the Berlin Film Festival to fantastic review and critical acclaim.
Full details of the programme for the three day festival will be available on Events OnTheWight later in the week (some items already added).
