Michael made national news headlines in 2001 for devising a route to work that involved cycling from the New Forest to Lymington to catch the Wightlink ferry to Yarmouth. Last week he made his final journey to mark his retirement
Wightlink provide ferry services to the Isle of Wight. They operate car ferry services from two Island ports, Yarmouth and Fishbourne, as well as a foot passenger services from the end of the pier in Ryde.
Wightlink’s Yarmouth car ferry lands in Lymington. The other two services land in Portsmouth.
The ferry service was bought by Australian-based investment bank, Macquarie, in 2005 for just over £230m.
