Ability Dogs 4 Young People is an Island charity that trains and provides assistance dogs for local people aged under 30 who have physical or mental disabilities.
A big part of the work in the sensory garden was laying a pathway and after digging out the foundations, the school turned to Island Roads and its volunteering scheme for help.
The foundation, which is jointly funded by Island Roads, Meridiam and VINCI UK, has donated upwards of £250,000 to the Island community over five years. Applications are now open for 2018.
The work is scheduled to last 17 weeks, finishing before the May Bank Holiday with two-way lights in place for majority of work, but with a three week road closure while the new road drainage system is constructed.
Works at Racecourse roundabout have been deferred until 2018 as night-time working is curtailed for this year. Weather permitting, scheduled day time works will continue until mid-December.
