With the current fair weather and Easter bank holiday on the way, Cowes Harbour Master Capt., Stuart McIntosh, reminds sailors that, “going out on the water rarely fits into the Government’s four criteria for being out and about”
The Cowes cruise season starts just ahead of Easter with a maiden call on 17th April from Hanseatic Nature, one of Hapag Lloyd’s new expedition class ships. Then from May to July, another six cruise ships are scheduled to come to the Island, including Europa, a regular visitor to Cowes.
Students are being asked to come up with an exciting design idea for a prominent and striking piece of artwork, sculpture, installation, or architectural fabrication to go on the 350 metre long man-made Cowes Breakwater.
Cowes Harbour Master says the new appointments bring extensive knowledge and expertise and will add value and complement the existing balance of skills and experience within the current Board.
The Cruise ship business is considerable and valuable. VIoW and Cowes Harbour Commission are actively engaging them, laying out the benefits of visiting the Island. The enclosed map shows where Cruise ships will anchor while visiting Cowes.
The Little Britain Challenge Cup (LBCC), the construction and property industry's number one sporting and social calendar event will bring hundreds of people to Shepards Wharf Marina in Cowes to sail, network and fundraise on 15th and 16th September.
The new boat mover will radically reduce transit times from the hoist dock area to the main yard, increasing efficiency and throughput throughout the summer.
