Book now for the debut Isle of Wight Shakespeare Festival

Fresh from their sell-out debut run of Much Ado About Nothing, this innovative new company are looking to bring the buzz back to Shakespeare at this, their first festival, taking place on Wednesday, August 27, and Thursday, August 28, at East Dene, Bonchurch.

The festival will host an array of events, including performance workshops, the Midsummer Market, a journey through the sonnets with Elizabethans in Love and a production of Twelfth Night by mainland company Oddbox, which is sure to delight audience members of all ages.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Headlining the event is the IWSC’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, playing on both days of the festival. Set in the beautiful and atmospheric grounds of East Dene, Bonchurch, A Midsummer Night’s Dream will transport audiences to the fantastical, beautiful and often sinister world of the Faerie Kingdom.

Reality will be turned upside-down with an infusion of passion, comedy and magic; so sit back and relax as a cast of outstanding Island talents take on one of Shakespeare’s most popular works.

Suitable for all ages, whether you’re a Shakespeare enthusiast or new to his work, the IWSC guarantees an enjoyable evening with a cast of colourful and lovable characters that you won’t forget in a hurry.

The Grand Faerie Ball
As a grand finale, the IWSC is hosting The Grand Faerie Ball, in aid of Parkinson’s UK, on 28 August.

An evening of music, costume and food, complete with a faerie photo-booth and entertainment from our players and local musicians, this is sure to be a fantastic event.

So come and dance the night away in a ballroom fit for any courtier of Faerieland, all whilst raising funds and awareness for an incredible cause. Tickets are £25, to include entry to the ball, a complimentary glass of champagne, a buffet, live music and access to the Faerie Photobooth.

Where, when and how to book
A Midsummer Night’s Dream will be playing on Wednesday, 27 August, at 7:30pm and on Thursday, 28 August, at 6:30pm. On 28 August, it will be followed by the Grand Faerie Ball, which will commence at 8:30pm inside the gorgeous East Dene.

The IWSC’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream will be open-air, so audience members are encouraged to bring blankets, folding chairs and refreshments, and layers in case it’s chilly!
