Call for residents to nominate NaShers for the Co-op Local Community Fund

We’re delighted that Nettlestone and Seaview Shed has been chosen to benefit from the Co-op Local Community Fund.

As you can imagine, the last 18 months have been really challenging for small, charitable groups like ours. The pandemic has drastically affected our fundraising efforts, so we’re grateful to have this partnership with the local Co-op.

Choose NaShers at Co-op
We’re urging local members to choose us as their cause so we can deliver our project and help more people in Nettlestone, Seaview and Pondwell.

We’re raising funds to improve and/or replace some of our woodworking equipment. To provide a “social” space for men and women to meet, to make and to do small wood working projects.

Loneliness and social isolation are just a couple of the many challenges faced by the elderly in our society.

The Shed movement
The ‘Men in Sheds’ movement was established as a means to help combat this problem amongst mostly but not exclusively elderly men.

The ‘Shed‘ provides an environment in which individuals are able to make things, help with repairs in the Parish and to chat . It rekindles the camaraderie of the workplace that many miss once retired and it has a benefit to the wider community.

Where the money goes
Funds are spent on equipment for the workshop, materials such as wood for making items , for the upkeep of the Shed, for training and visits. As is the case for all Sheds everywhere ours in Nettlestone and Seaview is already fulfilling its objectives. Come and visit.

When members buy selected Co-op branded products and services, 1p from every pound spent goes to support local causes like ours.

Co-op members can select us as their local cause by visiting the Website.

Support our Shed
We really hope that people will visit the Co-op Website or download the Co-op App and select us as their Local Community Fund cause so we can continue making a difference.
