Film The House Logo:The Island’s MP, Andrew Turner is encouraging amateur film makers to submit their productions to the national Film the House competition.

Film the House is a new Parliamentary initiative designed to celebrate up-and-coming amateur film producers, directors and script-writers and raise the importance of intellectual property rights.

House of Commons special screening
The competition is supported by the British film industry and the winners’ films will be shown to film industry executives at a special screening in the House of Commons and can win other exciting prizes.

Mr Turner says, “I know we have a wealth of creative talent here on the Island and this is a great opportunity for those who want to break into the film industry to showcase their talent to the people who can make things happen.

“The winning films will be screened at a special event at the House of Commons and it would be fantastic if the Island was represented there.”

Several categories
He went on to say, “Of course the late Anthony Minghella was an incredibly talented Islander who won numerous awards including an Oscar, I know he has inspired many local youngsters. There is a special category for under 18’s as well as five other categories, so there are opportunities for everybody to participate.”

The five categories are:
