Bargeman's rest live musci for joe ellis

Celebrate Joe’s life this Sunday and help the campaign reach £100,000 target

The Joe Ellis legacy will live on, if fundraisers across the isle of Wight have anything to do with it.

The sad news of Joe’s death earlier in the week has not stopped the plethora of events organised to help raise the £100,000 target – which will now go to help other kids on the Island with Cancer.

Live at the Bargeman’s Rest
Sunday sees a musical extravaganza at the Bargeman’s Rest in Newport from 1pm until closing time, with free entry all day.

There’ll be a selection of the Island’s best musicians and DJs, who have joined forces to put on a whole day’s entertainment to raise money for the Joe Ellis Trust.

Among the acts are the original members of Blue Moon, Duveaux, Bobby I Can Fly, Hester Chambers, Cat Skellington, Fellowship of the Groove, Guith, JC Grimshaw, Rhian Rhian, Dave Packer, Jim Thorn, Tom Headfunk and his collective, Damien Paul, Doug Alldred, Dollymops, Nick Cane, Brassic and more.

Summer of Love
Over in the West, you can be relive the Summer of Love at Dimbola Museum and Galleries.

Head down to Dimbola for their summer BBQ, where you can enjoy an evening of great home-cooked food and live music.

Doors open at 4pm with an acoustic set from Graham McCullough. Then the BBQ will be fired up and you can enjoy a free burger before local band L&M to take the stage. Make sure you’re dressed in your most swinging sixties outfit to really get in the mood – it’s going to be a night of good food, good music and good company so don’t miss out!

Tickets are £10 in advance (£12 on the door). Call on 01983 756814 or pop into Dimbola to book.

Ludfest for Joe Ellis
As mentioned earlier in the week, bands and singer/songwriters will also be spending the day and night at The King Lud in Ryde on Sunday.

There’s a great lineup from 11am, playing up until closing time, with a brilliant raffle (have you checked the prizes yet?) and lots more.

This event is free, but there’ll be plenty of opportunities throughout the day to show your support for the Joe Ellis Trust.

Whichever one you decide to head to (if not all three), have a great time and raise a glass to celebrate the life of this very brave young man.
