Collaboration between Isle of Wight brewers a win-win situation for all

Here at News OnTheWight we love hearing about collaborations across the Isle of Wight. It reinforces the notion that being surrounded by water brings a stronger sense of partnership and co-operation.

The latest alliance that caught our eye came during a visit to Sandown’s nano-brewery and bar, Boojum and Snark.

Jones-Evans: We’re sure this will put a kick in your step
Boojum’s brewer, Julie Jones-Evans, explained,

“Over the last few months, we’ve have been working with real ale legends Goddards to develop a range of craft beers for their new brewery in Branstone (read more about that).

“The first brew, Barista’s Breakfast Stout is due to be released in April and will be available in cask and keg. Featuring coffee roasted on the Island, vanilla, cinnamon and a healthy helping of oats we’re sure this will put a kick in your step.”

The collaboration means that Goddards can try out new recipes on a smaller scale before going into large-scale production at their own brewery. They rent the space from Boojums, so it’s a win-win for all involved.

Davies: The smaller kit allows you to be creative
Brewer Josh Davies (pictured) added,

“It has been great working with Julie at Boojum.

“The smaller kit allows you to be creative and we have tried a few versions of the Barista’s Stout before settling on the final recipe.

“It’s a velvety, creamy breakfast stout with a lovely roast nuttiness from the coffee balanced off with just a touch of spice.”

Not just a nano-brewery
New to Boojum&Snark is a regular silent-disco event on the last Saturday of every month. Taking place between 8pm-11pm headphones can be booked for just £3 per person.

There’ll be two channels featuring two different DJ sets.

Like “being cocooned in your own sound palace”
Tracy Mikich from Boojums explained,

“If you haven’t tried it yet, it’s really liberating, like being cocooned in your own sound palace, just you and the music. So, it’s time to get those headsets on and lose your inhibitions.”

Gather your friends and book your tickets.
