Council Employs Mainland Company For Wheelie Bin Distribution Job

VB has been contacted by a concerned Islander asking, ‘Why Are Islanders Being Deprived Of Work By Their Own Council?’

Wheelie BinThey raise the questions in light of learning that a Mainland company has been employed to distribute the new wheelie bins around the Isle of Wight.

Put up in Island hotels
VentnorBlog has discovered that not only is the company not an Island one, but that the people doing the work distributing the bins are also from the mainland, and are being put up in hotels on the Island.

This week, research came to light that over a quarter of the households on the Island have no one working in them.

Why?
As the person who contacted VB said, it raises the question – Given how long it’s been known that the Island is changing to Wheelie bins, why haven’t Islanders been employed to do this?

A short while ago we asked the council a number of questions about this and at the time of publishing, they hadn’t replied.

State of the Island meeting
On Saturday 21st a meeting is being held at the Riverside Centre to discuss the State of the Island.
