Frank James: New tools, new volunteers and lots of apples

Thanks to Tanja for this latest report from the Friends of Frank James. Ed

A huge thank you to those who came to help with our Frank James Apple Day on Sunday.

Apples were picked for pie or cider making and more grass and shrub was taken, making the site look much tidier overall.

New tools
This was facilitated by Daniel Robert’s excellent tool sharpener, which made the work so much more effective.

Thanks to gifts from Peter Lloyd and Kevin Martyn we now have at least four proper scythes, which help make the toil a collective effort and fun!

Young recruits
We were joined on the day by new recruits Sam and Ronnie, two youngsters who helped out with the work all day and who want to come back again.

The fate of Frank James and our Heritage in general is, after all, very much a concern for future generations.
