Hampshire Police To Merge Information Management Services With Thames ValleyThames Valley and Hampshire Police Authorities have recently agreed to support the proposal for collaboration in the delivery of the Information Management Unit across the two force areas.

It is predicted that the collaborative Information Management Unit will deliver joint cost savings in the region of £537,000, which will be essential in helping both forces respond to the Coalition Government’s Comprehensive Spending Review, details of which will be announced on 20 September.

Detailed business plan to be worked on
The detailed business plan will now be drawn up jointly to determine how the collaboration will work in practice. Staff and staff associations will be involved throughout the planning process. At this stage Force Security and Vetting functions are not included in the scope of the collaboration. This will be kept under review.

Khan Juna, Chair of Thames Valley Police Authority said: “Thames Valley Police Authority is pleased to be entering in to further collaboration with Hampshire Constabulary. We already have a successful joint ICT department and we are keen to look at other areas where collaboration could deliver efficiency savings for Thames Valley and other forces.”

Cllr Jacqui Rayment, Chair of Hampshire Police Authority said “We are pleased to be building on our successful collaborations with Thames Valley to deliver further savings especially at a time when public finances are under intense pressure.”
