Has Cocker Spaniel Been Washed Up On Isle of Wight Beach?

We often get appeals for lost pets on the Island, but this is the first one we’ve had from overseas.

Snug the missing SpanielUnfortunately, it’s also a very sad story.

The owner of this Blue Roan Cocker Spaniel, Snug, was walking him on Lepe Beach on Wednesday 23rd May about 4.30pm.

They say, “he went through a link fence and jumped into what appeared to be a stream. Unfortunately it was a tidal culvert.”

Sucked out into the Solent
The go on to say, “The tide was going out and Snug was sucked through the culvert pipe into the Solent. At the time the tide was going towards Calshot, but I am told by boating friends it turned towards your area.

“Despite many searches, posters, vet, dog warden & police being informed Snug’s body has not been found. Snug is microchipped and was last seen wearing a red collar with white paws on it, his white address tag and a petsafe tag.”

It is possible that the body of this dog may wash up on Isle of Wight beaches, so if you have seen or find him, please get in touch with the Isle of Wight council on 821000.
