As we mentioned last week, Tuesday saw night twelve bands battled it out in the first heat of the annual Medina High Schools “Battle of the Bands“.
And we can now tell you that the six bands making it through to the finals on May 7th are:
Nearly New, Blacktop Highway, Kosmik Debris, The Sessions (pictured left), Groovecat (pictured below) and the MajorTones.
The bands each played two of their own tracks and one cover song.
Judging was undertaken by a music technology teacher from the school, an ex-student and member of The Shutes, another ex-student who coincidently started the whole battle concept four years previously and last but not the least, Mr Strings guitar centre, namely Chris Phillips, Rob Potter, Chloe Halstead and Ian Davidson.
We wish all the bands the best of luck and suggest you head down to the final on the 7th, which we’re told has a special performance from a well established Island band while the judges make their decisions!
