Isle of Wight Festival Organisers Deny Cancellation Rumours

The organisers of the Isle of Wight Festival have just denied rumours that have started to circulate on the Island that it will be cancelled this year.

Wellies:Everyone who lives on the Island will be all too aware of how quickly rumours can spread, so VB acted quickly to contact the event organisers to ask them about the situation.

They emphatically denied the rumours. “There’s no truth in it”, they told VB, “It’s all going ahead. It’s being built as we speak.”

The rumour ran that the land at Seaclose Park was so water-logged, due to the recent heavy rainfall, that there were safety concerns about the large number of people who will attend the festival.

Increased drainage
Considerable repairs were made to Seaclose Park last year (2011) by the Festival’s organisers after the rain, combined with lots of people, left sections of the site very muddy.

Improvement works were carried out on the site during February this year, with drainage included.

It has been reported that the festival has now sold out of camping tickets.
