This in from the council, in their own words. Ed

Are you aged between 11 and 21 and are keen to make a difference for young people on the Isle of Wight?

If you are, candidates are being sought for the forthcoming Isle of Wight Youth Council elections.

The Youth Council is an independent organisation that works with Isle of Wight Council and other groups, helping to shape schemes and policies that are aimed to benefit young people.

Engaged with Isle of Wight issues
Over the last year, the Youth Council has become involved and contributed to a number of Isle of Wight Council consultations, launched new Facebook and Twitter pages to encourage further youth engagement, and developed a work programme of key issues to be addressed including transport, education and health, that effect young people on the Island.

Youth councillors have also taken part in Remembrance Sunday services and represented young people at civic events and at meetings of the Children & Young People Scrutiny Panel
