Real Ale lovers will be pleased to hear that Xavier Baker, the much-missed Master Brewer from the former Ventnor Brewery is back working on the Isle of Wight.
After spending the last three years on the west coast of Ireland setting up the successful Dingle Brewery, Xavier now joins Goddards Brewery as an Associate Director. They tell us that he’ll be focusing on business development and relationship management.
Isle of Wight Mead
In his spare time, Xavier has been keeping himself busy working on a very special long-term project to develop an Isle of Wight Mead (aka Honey Wine).
He shared his plans with us near the end of last year and they sound very exciting. Not only has he been developed a traditional Mead, but he’s also working on a Black Forest Cherry Mead and a Sparkling Mead using ‘methode de champagnoise’.
Xav said,
“It’s great to be back on the Isle of Wight and I am excited to be joining the great team at Goddards.
“We have some innovative and fun plans for the coming months and I’m looking forward to help shape the future of this great company.
“My mission with Isle of Wight Mead, is to play a part in revitalising this ancient, under-stated, refined drink. Also highlighting the importance of protecting our Bees!”
