Letter: Are we living in a soft Dictatorship?

OnTheWight always welcomes a Letter to the Editor to share with our readers – unsurprisingly they don’t always reflect the views of this publication. If you have something you’d like to share, get in touch and of course, your considered comments are welcome below.

This from Peter Geach of East Cowes. Ed

The Met turns a blind eye to the ‘high jinks’ at No 10 during lockdown.  No excuse for lack of evidence, they have security and Police at the gate who would have known, if not seen, the shenanigans and party goers.

Any other of us would have been prosecuted and fined, sometimes heavily for the same misdemeanor.  The difference being they didn’t make and enforce the rules.

Dick’s intervention
At the last minute, it seems Cressida Dick has come flying to the Prime Minister’s rescue by blocking the critical parts of Sue Gray’s report from being published.  But maybe something really serious has come to light, rather than a slap on the wrist.

Pull the other one guv.

Would expect some success
Boris has made an a*se of the Judiciary, Police, the Conservative Party and what is popularly taken for honourable behaviour.

And Conservative MPs  support this excuse of a Prime Minister?

Johnson got some things right, but many wrong. On the law of averages you would expect some success.

Why do MPs call themselves honourable?
Interesting question; why do MPs continue to call themselves honourable?  Recent events suggest this is an outmoded address!

Johnson’s Law
Will we now see people in the ‘Dock’ quoting Johnson’s Law; I didn’t know where I was; I was misinformed; no one told me.

Interesting to hear a Judge or Magistrates reaction to that; or indeed a PC about to feel your collar.

Living in a soft Dictatorship?
Are the Police; Met in particular colluding with the Prime Minister?

If so we are in a soft Dictatorship.
