It turns out that in places like Dallas and Miami, the humble garbage truck is becoming a high-tech spy – but the good kind. A system called City Detect uses AI cameras to spot potholes and code violations while the crew is busy with the bins.
It’s a “set it and forget it” dream, and we have UK companies like Gaist and EnviroEye ready to do the same here. Imagine a world where a pothole on a quiet lane in Brighstone is flagged to the council by the Friday morning bin lorry before anyone has even had their morning tea.
If our fleet is already out there traversing every inch of the island, why not give them a “brain” to match their brawn? It would certainly beat waiting for someone to report a “grot spot” on a mobile app. Let’s put some British AI on our Island lorries and get our infrastructure sorted!
