Preloved treasures and village charm on offer at St Lawrence Spring Sale Trail

Next weekend sees the arrival of the St Lawrence Spring Sale Trail.

As the much-loved Garage Gallop isn’t taking place this year, local residents Lexi Skeldon-Downer, Shelley Scothorne and Clare Wright have come together to organise a community-led sale for 2026.

Open to households in St Lawrence and the surrounding area, the event offers a chance to explore the village, take part, and pick up some brilliant bargains along the way.

Explore St Lawrence and uncover hidden treasures
Visitors from across the Island are warmly invited to discover the picturesque village of St Lawrence, set on the stunning south coast of the Isle of Wight, while browsing a wide range of preloved items.

Taking place on Sunday 17th May, from 11am to 3pm, the St Lawrence Spring Sale Trail will see households across the village opening their garages and gardens to sell everything from homewares and plants to clothing, toys and bric-a-brac.

Visitors are encouraged to wander through the village, uncovering hidden finds at each stop.

Community initiative fills Garage Gallop gap
As Lexi Skeldon-Downer explains,

“The village hall committee have worked so hard over the years to make the Garage Gallop such a success, so when it wasn’t possible this year, we really wanted to step in, support them, and make sure the community didn’t miss out.

“St Lawrence is a beautiful place, and it’s always a joy to welcome people in and share it.”

Event map and local attractions
A map showing all participating locations will be available via the event’s Facebook page from Tuesday 12th May.

It will also be displayed on the St Lawrence noticeboard located on Spindlers road and at the bottom of Seven Sisters road, the village hall end, for visitors to photograph, with a limited number of printed maps available on the day, with proceeds supporting the village hall.

Local hospitality and dining options
Organisers are encouraging visitors to make a day of it by exploring the village’s heritage, from its beautiful churches to the Peace Garden and the nearby coastline.

Local hospitality is also highly recommended, with options including The White Horse in Whitwell (serving breakfast from 10am and Sunday lunch from 12pm), as well as pubs in Niton such as The Buddle Inn, The White Lion and Number 7 (Post Office). Booking is advised.

Important visitor information
As the event takes place across the village, there are no central toilet facilities. Visitors are encouraged to plan ahead or make use of the nearest facilities located in Whitwell and Niton.
