Ryde Castle Fire: Chief To Bring In Mainland Services To Investigate

Mainland Fire services will be brought in to join the investigation into the Ryde Castle fire, the Island Fire Chief tells VentnorBlog.

>Steve Apter, the Chief Fire Officer of the Isle of Wight Fire Service, told VB this afternoon the latest development in the investigation into the fire that wrecked the well-known building.

Not only will other Fire services work on the investiation, but the investigation will cover two areas – the Cause and Safety Management.

The CauseThe Cause of the fire is currently believed to be the fireworks set off at the venue on the Saturday night. The investigation will seek to provide proof of the causes.

Steve told VB that the fire was already “well developed and well ventilated” by the time the fire brigade arrived, a short while after they received the call alerting them to the fire at 10:05pm.

Safety Management
The Safety Management side of the investigation will look in detail at the fire procedures at the Ryde Castle and the ‘safety culture’ at the venue, as well as the fire fighting last Saturday.
