Ryde District Heritage Centre Appeal For Planks

Some of you may already know that Historic Ryde Society are in the process of creating the Ryde District Heritage Centre in the basement of the Royal Victoria Arcade, Union Street.

Ryde Heritage CentreHRS have been in touch with VB today asking us to run an appeal for any spare wooden planks that readers may be able to donate.

A generous grant from Ryde Townscape Heritage Initiative, has enabled the floor of the new Heritage Centre to be constructed out of planks from the pier, however, they’ve found themselves 35 planks short.

Once work has been completed, the space will be transformed into a wonderful centre for the whole community (see computer generated image of the space, created by Andrew Laitt, of Depth Ltd, architect of the project).
