Ventnor Super Loo: How Much !?!? £315,197

At the Ventnor Town Council meeting last night, we discovered the true costs of constructing the ‘Super Loos’ on Ventnor’s Eastern Esplanade.

Ventnor Super Loo: How Much !?!?You may have heard various figures bandied around, but we suspect, none quite as high as the reality.

The actual figure is £315,197.

Gold plated toilet pans?
It’s stunning to discover that the figure of £315k doesn’t include any of the other work that was carried out around the paddling pool – it’s just for the toilets and new bridge.

Don’t get us wrong, we think the new loos look fab and were long overdue (another example of years of neglect).

Those we’ve spoken to about this don’t bemoan the fact that council money is being spent in Ventnor – they welcome it. They question why so much was spent on the loos when there are plenty of other deserving causes.

Just think what that money could do for the Winter Gardens – it would go a long way in reversing the decades of neglect that have eaten away at that poor building.

Ventnor Super Loo: How Much !?!?

So shocked were we by this massive figure, that we thought that we’d have to have some fun with it.

Launching the ***Guess the cost quiz***
There are 17 items on the cost breakdown put out by the council. We’ll publish each of them in turn and open it up to you, dear readers, to have a wild or reasoned guess/estimate and post them in the comments.

First things first – Demolition
Think back to what the previous toilets looked like (about the same size, maybe slightly longer) and have a think about what you reckon it should have cost to have them demolished.

The price, it’s assumed includes the removing all the debris from site and disposing of it in the correct manner.

Leave your best guess within the comments below and once we’ve had a few guesses, we’ll let you know the true figure.

On your marks, get set, go!
