Ventnor Town Council: Meeting Agenda For Tonight

Ventnor Town Council: Meeting Agenda For TonightThis evening sees another Ventnor Town Council meeting and apart from the usual regulars (such as reports from the Town Centre Manager Environment and Neighbourhoods Officer) there are a couple of items of interest on the agenda.

Eastern Esplanade Works
Apparently there will be a letter read out from head of planning Bill Murphy in relation to the work taking place in the Eastern Esplanade.

We suspect this may be in response to the comments raised at the last meeting regarding the wall constructed next to the paddling pool.

Schools Reorganisation
Additionally, an item relating to the schools reorganisation has been added at the request of Cllr Welsford. The agenda items states …

To consider whether Ventnor Town Council should resolve to send a letter objection to the Isle of Wight Council regarding their failure to consult properly with Ventnor Town Council regarding the decision made on 24th November 2008 to approve the closure of Ventnor Middle School and the amalgamation of Ventnor’s three primary schools onto Ventnor Middle School to create a single voluntary aided joint faith 4-11 primary school.

Members of the public are always welcome at the meetings which starts at 6.30pm. It is held under the stage at the Ventnor Winter Gardens with access through the back of the building (in the car park – by the carnival float).

The Ventnor Town Council meeting will be immediately followed by a Plans Committee meeting where a handful of local planning applications will be considered.

Beachlands
Those interested in the decision of the VTC of the two planning applications for Beachlands, should note that the taller of the two applications (TCP/02147/J) was rejected for being out of keeping with the street scene, being of poor design and not meeting the requirement that development in a Conservation Area should be a stimulus to the betterment of the area.

The Town Council approved the other application for a slightly lower building (TCP/02147/L) which raised very few comments from the public.
