It’s just ten weeks on from Walk the Wight 2015, and already the silver anniversary event has exceeded last year’s fundraising total.

Event organisers at Earl Mountbatten Hospice have received more than £170k worth of donations, with many more walkers still to submit their sponsorship money. All monies raised will go towards the Hospice community nursing team, who care for patients in their own homes across the Island.

Katie Radburn, Corporate and Major Donor fundraiser at the Hospice, said support for the event from the Island community and beyond had been incredible,

“To exceed last year’s total only ten weeks after the event is amazing,” she said. “Walk the Wight is such a pivotal event on the Hospice fundraising calendar and to have raised over £170k so far is testament to every single walker’s loyalty and support for EMH.

“We said we wanted to raise £250k for our community team, and while we are definitely on the way we still need everyone to get behind us and really push to reach that target. If you still need to submit your sponsorship money, we really need your support. There is a real momentum to raise as much as possible – every single penny counts so please don’t forget to send in your donations.”
