Kirstie Eade got in touch with VentnorBlog yesterday concerned that the water coming out of their East Cowes tap had, “a distinctive taste and smell of chlorine.”
She had contacted Southern Water and they’d advised her that the water was safe to drink and that if she put a jug of water in fridge, it would disperse the smell and taste.
We got in touch with Southern Water, who told VB that they’d had four calls yesterday from customers in East Cowes and Newport, saying their water tasted of chlorine.
“We have checked our water supply works in the area but are not aware of any issue with supply.
“We have carried out tests on the water and found the chlorine levels to be well within normal parameters and our water to be of the usual high standard.
“Chlorine is added to water to kill bacteria and make it safe to drink.”
How’s your water?
Our water, down Ventnor-way (not since January – as discussed on the VB Forum), doesn’t have that, but Kirstie’s message made us wonder, if any anyone else on the Island can smell or taste Chlorine in their water?
