Local councillor, Daniel James, said the West Wight deserves much more support from the Isle of Wight council who he believes should go back to basics and properly support rural Island schools.
Vix Lowthion ran for election in the 2015 National election as Green Party candidate on the Isle of Wight.
She increased the party’s vote by a factor of ten over the 2010 result. A while later she was selected as the leader of the Island’s Green Party.
February 2016 it was announced that she had been selected as Education Spokesperson for the National Green party.
In the 2019 General Election she gained 11,338 votes following a Green Alliance Pact with the Liberal Democrats. Her vote count dropped 1,577 votes since the 2017 election.
In 2024 Vix stood as the prospective parliamentary candidate in the new Isle of Wight East constituency. She then became the People’s Champion in the East Wight Primary.
