You may well have noticed the new parking ticket machines that have appeared across the Island this year. VB covered their initial appearance back in March.

Aura Parking Ticket Machines: Background On New IW MachinesBy co-incidence, we’ve come across the Website of the company that designed and manufactured the machines.

The company, Metric Group is UK-based, with its parent company, Hoft & Wessel, headquartered in Germany.

The machine the Island has is called the Aura.

Metric Group also provided the Congestion charge machines in London.

They can all be linked up back to County Hall, providing real-time reporting of how much is being put into the machines as well as things such as low ticket and cash levels at the machines.

It’s not clear if IWC have this option – we asked the press office earlier today and are awaiting a response.

Updated 6.Aug.10: The council confirm that “they are connected to a central server enabling us to monitor activity and ensure downtime is kept to a minimum.”
