Calling all Artists: Design an egg sculpture for The Eggschange and it could go on show at Ever Garden

Isle of Wight artist, Ever Grainger, who devised and created the Island’s latest sculpture garden, Ever Garden, is inviting artists to take part in a new competition.

The Eggschange will see artists invited to propose an egg sculpture.

If selected, they’ll then create their sculpture and have it shown for this season at Ever Garden, May – September.

On sale for £100 each
Eggs are installed in ‘The Eggschange’ (the add-on larder pictured above) and offered for sale to visitors who can ‘eggschange’ a flat £100 for one if they wish.

New eggs are displayed in their place when one or more are bought (so the eggs change).

Customer questionnaire
As an information ‘eggschange’ before making a purchase, buyers are asked to fill in a form listing words that describe their response to their chosen egg, then a best guess labour and materials value and an estimated current market value.

After purchase, the actual labour and materials value and current market value is revealed to the buyer.

The first round deadline for proposals is midnight on Wednesday 20th April 2022.

Egg size designs should be approximately that of a hen’s egg. Any materials or processes or ideas, but must be in three dimensions. The sculptures must not contain a real egg, or be perishable.
