The Spin-Itch team from Christ the King college have made it through three rounds of the Young Enterprise ‘Company of the Year’ programme to reach the National Finals.
Having been awarded best company at both the Isle of Wight Grand Final at the Island Riding Centre and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Final at the Ordnance Survey in Southampton, they attended the South East Regional Finals yesterday at Corum in London Kings Cross.
They engaged in a rigorous process involving delivering a Company Report, interviews, creating a promotional video and finally making a live presentation to the judges and audience.
Focus Tools that are built to stand the test of time
Spin-Itch– Hari Blair, Kai Doidge, Joshua Magura, Andy Luo, Joe Quinn, Thomas Browning, Kitt-Jo Wilson-Hurst and India Sulley – have designed, made and sold a range of premium quality fidget tools, aimed at both helping those living with ADHD to improve their productivity and focus, whilst tackling the growing environmental problem of throw away plastic fidget toys.
A valuable experience
This year’s team is made up from students studying A level business, who have juggled the challenges that come with setting up and growing a company with their studies.
Hari Blair, managing director Spin-Itch, said,
“The Young Enterprise programme has helped me to gain many skills from working as a team to business expertise. It has been an incredible opportunity and I would recommend it to anyone with an interest in business”
Support
They have been guided by their Business Advisor Guy Wells, Managing Director of AJ Wells and Sons and supported by their link teacher Clare Foster The Isle of Wight Young Enterprise Company Programme is delivered in conjunction with Ed-WISE, a local community benefit society with the support and sponsorship of several Isle of Wight businesses.

Tough competition
At the South East regionals, they were against tough competition from teams across Hampshire, Surrey, Kent and the Channel Islands, and this is not the first time that a team from the Isle of Wight has reached the National finals.
Last year saw the award-winning Wild Wax Melts team from Carisbrooke and Medina College make it through three rounds of the Young Enterprise ‘Company of the Year’ programme to reach the National Finals.
The team have been an inspiration in terms of their entrepreneurship, energy, and work ethic and are fine ambassadors for the Island. We wish them all the best for the next stage in their journey.
National Final in June
The National Final takes in Manchester on 4th June, with the winners progressing to European finals in Athens.
