Mime, clown and horror collide in David Hoskin’s new Ventnor Fringe performance: A Haunted House

Physical comic and theatre-maker David Hoskin returns to Ventnor Fringe Festival this July, following his acclaimed debut show ‘Hølìdåÿ’.

His new show, A Haunted House, takes audiences on a guided tour through a crumbling mansion filled with vampires, werewolves and demonic birds.

A story with strange beginnings
The premise sets the tone from the start: after a car breaks down, a strange old man ushers the audience inside the decaying building.

Bizarre and comic scenes unfold room by room as the tour guide’s memory begins to fail and the house itself seems to stir to life.

The show draws on Hoskin’s lifelong obsession with horror, weaving mime, physical comedy, clown and sound design into a single surreal experience.

Horror, laughter and a hint of the uncanny
Hoskin describes the production as sitting somewhere between hysterical and terrifying, with the buried past and an uncertain future creeping into each scene.

The show draws comparisons to riding a ghost train alongside The League of Gentlemen, Jacques Tati and the cast of a Hammer Horror film.
