Emergency Vehicles Spotted Near Luccombe:UPDATED

One of VentnorBlog’s Newshounds called us up (898 777) to say that they’d seen a collection of emergency vehicles near Luccombe at around 11:30 this morning.

They spotted a fire engine, police car, fire vehicle and police dogs van parked in the lay-by opposite the Garlic woods as you leave Shanklin up Cowleaze Hill on way to Luccombe.

Thanks to the eagled-eyed spotter for the call.

Update below …
We contacted the police shortly after to try and find out further details, but at the time of writing this, we haven’t heard back.

We’ll update you if/when we heard more.

UPDATE: We received notification from the Police a few minutes ago that “a body was found by officers near cliffs in the Shanklin area at approximately 10.00am this morning (Thursday, October 16).”

Formal identification is due to take place tomorrow. At this time, the death is not being treated as suspicious, and a file is being prepared for the Isle of Wight Coroner.

Condolences to those affected by this death.
