Environment Agency set to lift Eastern Yar flood alert as water levels drop

The Environment Agency is hoping to remove the flood alert for the Eastern Yar by midday on Tuesday.

They have issued an update to the alert, which reads:

Water levels in the Eastern Yar continue to fall steadily. The immediate risk of fluvial flooding has now passed in the upper Eastern Yar.

In the lower Eastern Yar, out of bank flooding affecting roads, cycle tracks and footpaths is now receding.

Ditches around Fort Holiday Park are high, but this is an improving situation.

Bembridge sluice is operating normally.

The next five days are forecast to be mainly dry, allowing the river to return to normal seasonal levels.
