Calling all young musicians!

There’s a fantastic, once in a life-time opportunity for you to take part in workshops and experience first-hand the brilliance of some of the top percussionists and drum kit players in the country, on Monday 27th October in Ryde.

Anyone over the age of eight years old can come along and enjoy top class drumming ‘up close’ – drum kit, timpani, marimba, snare drum.

Find out from ‘the pros’ about where drumming can take you, from performing in the Lion King or Royal Festival Hall, to recording in studios or for film scores.

What the day includes
Guaranteed to inspire and enthuse, the full day (10am – 4pm) of workshops and performances will culminate in a free concert at 5pm after tea and cakes at 4.30pm.

The public is invited is attend to listen to the free concert.

A tribue to Jack Richards
The event is being organised by friends and colleagues as a tribute to Jack Richards who was a percussion teacher with the Isle of Wight Music Service for many years.

As a teacher, performer and friend, he was so highly valued that all the wonderful pros involved are giving up their time completely free!

Who’s involved
The team for the day consists of: Simon Carrington principal timpani, London Philharmonic Orchestra; Chris Baron, currently drummer for The Lion King in the West End; Claire Brock, London freelancer and author of ‘How to Teach Drums’; Michael Skinner, ex principal, Royal Opera House; Clive Malabar, IW teacher who is ex English National Opera, London Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra and Royal Opera House; Al Gubbins and Stu Fisher who are kit players in rock bands and for numerous recordings.

All this music-making will be accompanied by CAKE and anyone is invited to bring along a contribution to the Percussion Day Showstopper Munch Table!

Book now to secure your place
To take part in the day at Ryde School you need to book as numbers are limited (but plenty of space left as we go to press).
