Helping you decide who to vote for: May 2026 elections

You may have seen in other IW publications there have been many, many articles (39 to be exact) intended to tell Islanders a little more about the candidates that are seeking election across the Island’s 39 wards at the Isle of Wight council elections coming on 7th May 2026.

Running that many articles all felt a bit much – in danger of drowning out everything else happening on the Island.

The ultimate guide
OnTheWight has taken a different approach.

(You may well have seen our previous comprehensive analysis of the parties and candidates that are putting themselves forward for election)

We’ve created the ultimate guide to candidates all in one place.

All candidate information in one place
On a single page, everyone can read what each candidate is saying to tempt you to vote for them (don’t worry, they’ve been limited to 100 words).

You can find out who is running in your ward and elsewhere. We feel it gives Islanders a great overview to the whole process too.

Getting around quickly
Not only can you jump directly to your ward (using the left hand list), but you can choose to view all of the candidates from each of the parties too, or search for a specific candidate’s name.

Postcode to ward lookup too
We’ve also built a tool that helps anyone on the Island find out which Ward their house is in – all you need is to enter your (or a friend’s / relative’s) postcode and it will give you the Ward. Be aware that occasionally a ward boundary sits in the middle of a road, so it may give you the wrong ward.

You probably won’t be surprised to hear that these have taken a huge amount of work to create – we hope you find them helpful.
