Mini Sub on the back of a lorry at the ferry terminal heading to the Isle of Wight

James Bond submarine finds new home on the Isle of Wight

It’s not often you see a submarine parked in the ferry terminal waiting to come to the Isle of Wight.

But that’s what happened yesterday afternoon (Monday) to News OnTheWight reader Leo Harverson as he queued to get on the Red Funnel ferry at Southampton.

We hear the submarine is an original James Bond prop, used in the 1999 film, The World Is Not Enough, starring Pierce Brosnan.

Secret destination
The sub was heading to a secret location on the Isle of Wight.

We’ve been asked to keep schtum for the moment on where and what it’ll be used for, but we’ll let you know once we get the all clear.

You can see it in action in this clip from the film.
