Ryde ceramicist Sue Paraskeva opens the doors of her Green Street studio this May as part of the Isle of Wight Open Studios event, giving visitors a rare chance to see her work up close.
The studio at 22a Green Street, Ryde opens daily from 22nd to 25th May, 11am to 4pm.

Porcelain made for everyday life
Sue’s cream porcelain tableware range takes centre stage, with each piece hand-thrown in pure porcelain, glazed inside and left bare outside – functional objects designed for daily use rather than display.

Alongside the tableware, visitors will find a selection of work from Sue’s wood-fired kiln, including Ceremonial Vessels, Funeral Wall Discs and other standalone pieces.
New work born from recovery
Among the most compelling pieces on show will be Sue’s new “Ignis” series, which she created during her ongoing recovery from Long Covid.

Sue describes the circumstances behind them,
“My new ‘Ignis’ works were made during my ongoing recovery from Long Covid – created on my dining room table when getting to the studio wasn’t possible.
“Small works, real flame, found objects, paper. I didn’t know what they were at the time. I think I do now.”

Visit in person or browse online
For those unable to make it to Ryde in person, Sue’s work is also available to buy online.
