Parents, carers and professionals across the Isle of Wight will have the opportunity to learn more about proposed national changes to support for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) at an upcoming information session.
Isle of Wight SEN Support are hosting a session to help local people understand the Government’s SEND White Paper consultation and what the reforms could mean for families and services.
Understanding the proposed changes
The event, titled Unpicking the SEND White Paper Consultation, takes place on Wednesday 11th March 2026 from 6.30pm to 8pm at the Riverside Centre, Newport.
Organisers say the session will explain the proposed changes to SEND provision and outline how people can take part in the consultation process.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions and gain a clearer understanding of how the reforms might affect their community.
Open to parents, carers and education staff
The session is open to parents, carers, young people, education staff and anyone working in or interested in special educational needs and disabilities.
Organisers say they aim to break down the information in a clear and accessible way so people can better understand the proposals.
Tickets cost £3.50 per person to cover refreshments and room hire, although some free places are available for those on a low income.
Book your ticket via EventBrite, or visit Isle of Wight SEN Support on Facebook for more information.
