Letter: The Isle of Wight as a resting place for one’s loved ones?

The Editor, dear Madam,

In light of the news that many mainland burial sites have run out of space, and the fact that we here on the Island still have room, would it not be a good idea to rent out some of our ample unused spaces to those less fortunate?

I’m sure many ‘overners’ would be delighted to remember their departed loved ones as laying at peace somewhere on our unused chalk highland, with its unparalleled views over the Island and the sea beyond.

Apart from anything else, this idea would surely prove extremely profitable to the Island coffers.
