Community groups and charities across the Isle of Wight will have the chance to connect directly with funding providers at a special networking event next month.
The Isle of Wight Council’s Family and Community Team and Community Action Isle of Wight have organised Meet the Funders, which takes place at the Riverside Centre in Newport.
The event brings together local grant-makers and national organisations to offer practical advice and direct support to groups working across the Island.
Supporting local projects
Both emerging grassroots groups and established charities can access guidance on navigating the complex world of funding applications.
Teresa Brimble-Brennan, Supporting Families project officer, emphasises the value of direct contact with funders. She said,
“This is a brilliant opportunity for organisations to meet the people who can help bring their ideas to life.
“Whether you’re seeking seed funding for a new initiative or looking to expand an existing project, this event is all about making meaningful connections.”
Morning programme features key presentations
The day begins with an introduction to the programme, followed by presentations from major funding providers.
The Isle of Wight Council will present information about the Community Capacity Grant, Household Support Fund, Short Breaks, and the Holiday Activities and Food Programme.
Representatives from the Isle of Wight Foundation – Island Roads will also share funding opportunities with attendees.
Other national organisations participating include the Hampshire and IW Foundation, Arts Council, National Lottery, and Past Futures Heritage Grants.
Networking and refreshments
Organisers have scheduled two presentation sessions during the morning, with a refreshment and networking break at 11.10am.
Attendees can purchase lunch for £5 per person at 12.55pm, though advance booking is essential.
One-to-one support available
The afternoon programme focuses on practical assistance through individual appointments with funding representatives.
Groups can book advance sessions to speak directly with representatives from the National Lottery, Isle of Wight Council, Arts Council, and other grant providers.
These personalised meetings allow organisations to discuss specific funding needs and receive tailored advice.
Specialist workshops offer additional support
Three workshops will run throughout the afternoon, each accommodating up to 20 participants for one-hour sessions.
Zoryna O’Donnell will lead a bid writing workshop to help groups craft successful funding applications.
Colm Watling will facilitate a business resilience session, whilst Fiona Gwinnett will run a collaborative working workshop.
Each workshop runs twice during the afternoon to provide flexibility for attendees with different schedules.
