New community theatre project to bring live performances back to Brading town hall

Brading Town Council and Tide nor Time Players CIC are proud to announce the launch of an exciting 12-month pilot project that will see “The Bullring Theatre” operating from Brading New Town Hall as a new community-led performance initiative.

The joint venture will bring live performances, creativity and energy back into the heart of the Brading. Working within the existing space, the project will make use of the hall’s historic stage and reintroducing it as a welcoming, inclusive venue for performances.

Free youth theatre at its heart
The heart of this pilot is our strong commitment to young people. A free youth theatre group for ages 12 to 21 will play a leading role in shaping and driving the programme. We will be offering workshops for music, acting and developing skills in a supportive environment.

The project is actively inviting more young people from across the Isle of Wight to get involved.

Open to the whole Island
The Bullring Theatre will serve both the local Brading community and the Island as a whole, presenting a varied programme while opening doors for local performers, writers and creatives.

Alongside performances, the pilot will encourage collaboration across local groups, support original work, and create space for new voices to be heard.

Every penny reinvested
Importantly, the project is built on a reinvestment model; every penny generated will go directly back into the theatre project and the ongoing care and improvement of Brading New Town Hall.

Brading Town Councillor Paul Garratt said,

“We are so lucky to have the new town hall building in Brading. It’ll be fantastic to get it back to putting on presentations and performances which has long been requested by the residents; we hope this will create new energy in our town.”

Garratt: Extremely talented creatives
Councillor Garratt went on to say,

“We had the privilege of watching the rehearsals for an upcoming production last night and thoroughly enjoyed it.

“The Island creatives behind the project are extremely talented and I feel that their performances are likely to be very popular.”
