St Helens Historical Society to explore Isle of Wight’s pop and rock heritage

The St Helens Historical Society is hosting a public talk on Thursday 16th April exploring the Isle of Wight’s contribution to pop and rock music.

Local historian and writer Andrew Bradstock will deliver the talk, titled ‘Pop Goes the Island’, covering the Island’s influence on the music scene from the 1950s onwards.

From the Island to the charts
Andrew will discuss some of the major bands and musicians who grew up on the Isle of Wight, tracing their journeys through decades of pop and rock history.

An evening in St Helens
The talk takes place at the Community Centre, Guildford Road, St Helens PO33 1UH, with doors opening for a 7.30pm start.

How to attend
Entrance is free for St Helens Historical Society members, with non-members paying £3 on the door – cash only.

The evening will also include refreshments and a raffle, and those interested in joining the Society will have the opportunity to do so on the night.
