Plane Crash Over Havenstreet (Update 3)

VB have received reports of a two-plane crash over Havenstreet.

Officially unconfirmed, we’ve no idea yet of the seriousness of the incident. The planes were thought to be taking part in the Schneider Trophy races.

We’ll bring you more info when we get it Updates are coming in from Facebook below from witnesses and the CP are reporting two feared dead.

John Giovanni Berry “Second plane landed at bembridge airport without landing gear.”

Shazza Corr says “can see the smoke and hubby gone out with brigade”

Kirstie Eade said “we had heard two planes for some time, sounded like they were stunt planes/ or doing an air display, then we heard the sirens, thoughts are with everyone involved incl;uding those who have gone to help.”

Sarah Ash who works at Bembridge Airport says

“Something’s definitely happened i work at bembridge airport hope its not to serious thought are with everyone.

Liz Kingston adds that she saw the crash “One plane hit another and a wing came off seen from Haylands.”

Darcy Willett says “is a plane circling over havenstreet, it’s very low down. also, my brother heard sirens earlier.”

Linda Bassett just called to let us know that she’d been up to Havenstreet Railway car park where she was able to speak to po,ice officers.

“They confirmed that two light aircraft were involved in a collision this evening but were not able to confirm whether there’d been any fatalities.”

UPDATE 19:35 Shazza Corr: “It’s still smoking but aviation fuel is harder to put out. It needs foam not water, long night for Brigade (they do have source to make foam ) .Thoughts go out to everyone involved ”

Naturally, our thoughts are with anyone involved.
