Ventnor Piano Fund: The Score

Last week we met with Ventnorian Anthony Churchill, who is responsible for setting up the Ventnor Piano Fund. Richard Studt’s Ventnor Recital planned for this coming weekend is taking place in order to raise much needed cash for the fund, so we thought you might like to hear a bit of background. Ed

Ventnor Piano Fund: The ScoreThree years we decided to set up the Ventnor Piano Fund, as we believe the south of the island needed a quality piano.

Internationally famous musicians, bringing their equally famous violins, trumpets and horns, need a fine piano to accompany them.

Piano soloists could also then be encouraged to Ventnor and the young need a superb piano with which to learn and develop their musical skills.

In the first two years nearly £3,000 has been raised, from a concert in the Wight Light Gallery, and then in St Catherine’s Church with its wonderful acoustics.

We are most grateful to Reverend Graham Morris for his enthusiastic support and for bringing his church to the heart of Ventnor’s community.

A top-class piano may cost £20,000. All support no matter how small is appreciated.
