Vix Lowthion re-selected as national education spokesperson for Green Party

The Isle of Wight’s Vix Lowthion has been re-selected as the Green Party of England and Wales’ spokesperson for Education and lifelong learning.

The national Green Party this week revealed its updated team of spokespeople during a meeting in a community garden in central London, in preparation to reach new voters in the lead up to the next General Election – which many commentators believe could happen sooner than planned in 2024.

Has been in the role for five years
Vix, who has held the Education spokesperson role since 2016, stands alongside 12 other spokespeople and the leadership team as experts with lived experience and track records in their areas of expertise.

She continues to be a secondary school teacher in Newport, and the spokesperson role is unpaid.

Bartley: Vix works daily in her field of expertise
Green Party co-leader Jonathan Bartley said,

“When people get involved in the Greens, it’s because we have a deep passion for the issues that we care about.

“Our spokespeople like Vix work daily in their fields of expertise and know first hand the challenges that our nation must overcome in the immediate future.

“They aren’t just spokespeople, they are megaphones for a movement of citizens who want real change.”

Lowthion: Education is central to meeting the challenges of today
Vix Lowthion said,

“I am unbelievably privileged and proud to be representing the Isle of Wight and speaking up on behalf of Green Party education policy for another term.

“Our schools, colleges and universities deserve much more support. Workers, students, citizens, families and educators must have greater access to training and learning throughout their lives.

“Education is central to meeting the challenges of today, and for our successes tomorrow.

“I pledge to continue to work hard to ensure that everyone in our country has free access to good quality, meaningful opportunities to be curious, to be skilled, and to learn about how to improve lives for ourselves and for the communities we love.”

Other spokespeople announced include city councillors, trade unionists, a former diplomat and a Professor of Economics.
