After the positive vote at full council on votes for 16 and 17 year old Islanders, IW Labour's youth officer asks council leader, Dave Stewart, to lobby the MP and get more involved in promoting the issue.
Dave Stewart is Conservative county councillor for Niton and Whitwell.
He is also Group leader of the Isle of Wight Conservative councillors.
On 18th January 2017, Cllr Stewart was elected as Leader of the Isle of Wight council, following the resignation of Jonathan Bacon (Island Independents).
He was leader of the Isle of Wight council from 2017 to 2021, when he lost his seat to Green Party councillor, Claire Critchley.
