Grants are available for community projects that can provide access to nutritious food and balanced meals, redistribute surplus food, help educate on shopping smartly to make low cost meals, limit food waste and prioritise the wellbeing of children and young people impacted by food poverty
The grants will support some of the most marginalised people in society and help the grassroots groups running these vital services. Two Isle of Wight groups have benefited from the Tampon Tax Fund.
The region contains areas of deprivation in the worst 10% in the country and the new CEO says the Foundation will continue to target grant-making towards those most in need.
Guests to the reception included HIWCF President and Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire, Nigel Atkinson Esq; and the Lord-Lieutenant of the Isle of Wight Major-General Martin White.
The £59,000 fund will award annual grants to smaller local voluntary and community groups working with vulnerable and disadvantaged people in the Newport area, supporting the advancement of health and the relief of poverty.
The Isle of Wight has several pockets of deprivation, so if you know of someone who can benefit from a grant to help others in those areas, please let them know about this funding scheme.
