Call for contributions to a new collaborative art project on childhood

Artist and photographer, Vincent Dupont-Blackshaw, is inviting members of the public to get involved in a creative initiative exploring childhood memories and the joy of growing up.

His project, entitled JOUR (Joyful Observations of Unfiltered Reality), has been years in the making and focuses on capturing magical, fleeting moments from childhood through photography.

From photograph to personal story
Now, as part of the Knowledge Exchange Project between Ryde and the University of Portsmouth, Vincent wants to take the project further.

He is transforming JOUR into a collaborative art project by collecting personal testimonies and memories of childhood and parenthood, to accompany each photograph in the series.

How to take part
There are two ways you can contribute.

First, you can browse the images and select one that resonates with you.

Then, write a short piece that links to the photo. It could be a memory, a childhood dream, or a moment of deja vu experienced as a parent.

Contributors are encouraged to take creative liberty in their response.

Help spread the word
The second way to help is simply by sharing the project with others. Vincent, who hopes the project will spark conversations and reflections across communities, says,

“The more testimonies we can have, the better.”

Friends, family, fellow artists and social media contacts are all welcome to take part or pass it on.
