The cyclists:

Fraser and Dave to cycle Hadrian’s Wall for charity

Thanks to Fraser for news of this Hadrian’s Wall fundraising cycle ride. Ed

Friend’s Dave Westhead and Fraser Mc Dermott, both 29 and from Shanklin plan to mark the first anniversary of the 2012 London Games by cycling the historic 174 mile route that stretches the length of Hadrian’s Wall – World Heritage Site in the North of England, from Ravenglass to South Shields in just 36 hours in July this year.

Earl Mountbatten Hospice
The guys have chosen two amazing charities: Fraser will be raising funds for the Island’s Earl Mountbatten Hospice (registered charity no: 1039086), after suddenly losing his father Paul in July 2008 to cancer.

Alzheimer’s Society
Whilst Dave is cycling for the Alzheimer’s Society (registered charity no: 296645), a cause close to his heart after his Mum Pat was first diagnosed with the disease in 2007.

Fraser, an Olympic and Paralympic Games Maker at the Games last year, said

“We felt inspired by the Games and wanted to mark this milestone with an event of our own.”

We leave the Island on Thursday 25th July to travel to Ravenglass in Cumbria and officially start on the Friday.
